Some additional noteworthy information:
You do not have to be a resident of Florida to obtain a Florida Marriage
License. Non-Residents can get their marriage license and get married
the same day without a waiting period. If you are a Florida resident there
is a 3 day waiting period before your license becomes valid unless you
have both completed the State sanctioned marriage preparation course
within the last 12 months.
If you have been previously married, the date of your divorce or spouse’s
death must be provided when obtaining your Florida Marriage License.
Check with the county for their specific requirements.
Florida requires that you produce a picture ID and your Social Security
Card or valid Passport and typically both of you must be physically present
at the time of application.
Your Florida Marriage License will need to be presented to your Officiant
on the day of your wedding to notarize after your ceremony. The original,
notarized, and witnessed Marriage License (varies per county) must then
be submitted to the County Clerk of Court in which it was obtained to
record. The Clerk will provide you with a certified copy for your records.
If you are a destination bride and unable to visit the courthouse during normal business hours, there is an alternative.
Florida Marriage License Express can obtain your license and send it directly to us prior to the ceremony.
