Clearwater Beach Weddings
Clearwater Beach is the largest
beach in the area and many
people hold their Florida beach
wedding there. Of all the
beaches in the area, Clearwater
Beach is the most “vibrant.” All
of the big beach resorts and
hotels are on Clearwater Beach
and many people who get
married on the beach do so right
behind their hotel. The
advantage of getting married on
Clearwater Beach is that you
don’t have to travel to your
wedding... simply walk out to the
beach from your hotel room. The
disadvantage is that there will be
more people, umbrellas, etc in
the area. There are more tourists
in Clearwater than any other
local beach.
The exception is Sand Key Park.
Sand Key Park: 1060 Gulf Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33767
Sand Key Park is one of the most popular Beaches to get married on in Clearwater. With its wide-spread beach,
white sand, dunes, rock jetty, and beautiful sunsets, it makes for the perfect location for both small and large
Weddings. The Beach in Sand Key Park can easily accommodate a guest list of 150 or more! There are two
Pavilions located in the park that can be used as your “Plan B” in the event of rain. One is on a first come, first serve
basis and the other can be reserved for a nominal fee. You can learn more about reserving the Pavilion by visiting
Parks & Recreation Shelter Reservations . Additionally, the Park is equipped with Public restrooms just off of the
beach and lots of parking for your guests.
Sand Key Park is located just South of Clearwater Pass and is close enough to all of the major Hotels, Restaurants,
and Bars along Clearwater Beach that you and your guests won’t have to travel far. When you enter the park you no
longer feel like you’re in the mix of all the tourists. Sand Key Park offers the perfect setting for your Florida Beach
Wedding without all the unsightly blue and yellow umbrellas or cabanas so commonly found in front of the hotels
located directly on Clearwater Beach.
You will have to obtain a Special Event/Special Use Permit to get married in Sand Key Park if you will have more
than 50 guests attending or you want to have an Arch, Bamboo Canopy, or Chairs as part of your ceremony décor.
The time needed for permits can vary but as a general rule you should allow for 30 working days. Permit fees start at
around $214. There’s also a parking fee of $5 per car.
Pinellas County has a virtual tour of Sand Key Park that can be seen here: Pinellas County Parks-Sand Key Virtual
